These Chips Contain Herbicide Linked To Hormone Disruption And Kidney Failure

Last updated on

The Texas-based Frito-Lay corporation, whose parent company is PepsiCo, has been caught selling deadly processed food products that contain both genetically modified (GM), pesticide-producing “corn” and Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide (glyphosate), which is scientifically linked to causing a variety of health problems including hormone disruption and kidney failure.

Frito Lay’s SunChips Tested

Recent tests conducted on Frito-Lay’s SunChips product revealed the presence of GM Bt-corn, which comprised 100% of the corn used in the product.

Bt-corn, as you’ll probably recall, creates its own insecticide inside every cell of the plant, which can’t be washed off and is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency—in other words, Bt-corn isn’t food.

Feeding studies on mammals have found that Bt-corn causes significant changes in blood cells, and indications of both liver and kidney diseases. Proteins from Bt-corn, which supposedly break down in the digestive tract, have also been found circulating in the blood of both pregnant and non-pregnant women.

Also found in SunChips were dangerously high levels of glyphosate, the primary active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller. Using Specific LC/MS/MS testing methods, the consumer advocacy group GMO-Free USA observed levels of glyphosate in SunChips averaging 0.14 parts per million (ppm), or 0.14 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg).

Glyphosate, as we’ve continually reported, has been prolifically linked to damaging the endocrine (hormone) system, and triggering major damage to the kidneys and other vital organs. Glyphosate also destroys gut microbiota, which the body needs to process and assimilate nutrients, as well as fight off harmful pathogens and maintain strong immunity.

“The quantitative PCR test verified, by DNA analysis, that 100% of the corn in the SunChips was GMO, containing DNA sequences known to be present in insecticide-producing Bt and Roundup Ready corn,” reports GMO-Free USA. “The test [also] documented the presence of glyphosate in SunChips at a level of 0.14 ppm, or 0.14 mg/kg.”

These Chips Poisonous To Humans

The really insidious part about all this is that SunChips are marketed as a healthy, whole grain snack food that is “low in saturated fat and cholesterol”.

Aside from the fact that both saturated fat and cholesterol are important nutrients required for health—the insinuation that they aren’t is a deception based on pseudo-scientific prejudice and ignorance—the presentation of SunChips as some kind of Earth-based food is nothing short of criminal false advertising.

And this is hardly a shock, considering Frito-Lay’s parent company, PepsiCo, spent more than $13 million fighting against mandatory GMO labeling. Both PepsiCo and Frito-Lay are major purveyors of GMO junk foods, many of which are marketed directly to children, and which we now know are loaded with chemical poisons in the form of pesticide and herbicide residues.

You can view the duly shocking test results of Kellogg’s Froot Loops breakfast cereal, which also contains unbelievably high levels of both GMOs and glyphosate herbicide, here: GMOFreeUSA.org.

“PEPSICO, the owner of Frito-Lay, has been one of the biggest financial contributors to the fight against consumers’ need to know if they’re eating GMOs,” reports GMO Free USA.

“Pepsi contributed over $8.1 million to defeat citizens’ ballot initiatives in California ($2,485,400), Washington ($1,620,899), Colorado ($1,650,000) and Oregon ($2,350,000), and spent an additional $5.06 million on lobbying in 2013 ($2,720,000) and 2014 (first 2 quarters of 2014: $2,340,000).”

Thank you for posting this. I know that ALL factory made “foods” are not for human consumption, but thank you so much for doing the research. Love this

  6. Oh my gosh … I used to be a big Pepsi drinker, until I was informed that they put cells from aborted babies in it to keep the crisp fresh taste … now this … Wow!!! I wonder if this has affected my daughter who somehow has a blood cell disorder and we just found out about it and she’s 11 … crazy!

    1. Hi Rose, unfortunately, unscrupulous food manufacturers who are more interested in big profits than people’s health are doing unthinkable things. Your daughter was born perfect … but toxins in food can mutilate healthy cells and cause a host of health problems.

  7. Joy Sizemore

I will not be buying the the products that have been posted! But i will be passing this on to all my family and friends. Thank you so much for sharing what you found!

I am a grandmother that loves my grandchildren, I just STOPPED buying Frito Lay products effective immediately. Won’t be purchasing anymore Pepsi products either. When dollars become more important than people, priorities have become uniquely messed up. I really appreciate your sharing this information with me, and I will definitely be passing it on.

And this is also the reason why there are now a kidney dialysis center almost on every other block..I wouldnt be surprised if Pepsico are investors…#EVILNESS

  10. Wow! My son started eating sun chips and Pepsi around the age of three. It kept him happy and quiet, but shortly thereafter he began to grow odd lesions on his penis. In addition to that, his penis was literally growing a quarter of an inch a day. With the lesions and growth, it was embarrassing as in daycare it would always drop out and drag. We tried numerous doctors until one asked if we fed him GMO foods. We said “no” but had no idea about the sun chips and Pepsi which you mentioned. After many surgeries and careful diet watch, our son is doing better. He had to wear an ostomy bag as his penis was too infected and gone, due to this corporate poison he was fed. Get the word out! When will this stop!?

  11. Yep! I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism: multi-nodular goiters! Doctor wanted to give me radioactive iodine and/or surgery but I refused (my mom has hypothyroidism and takes medicine to regulate her thyroid hormones for life so I didn’t want that) and did a LOT of research and learned so much about HFCS and GMO. So then I fasted and went vegan for several months, my thyroids improved and the multi-nodular goiters are virtually G O N E. It’s been about 10 years, it hasn’t returned because I avoid HFCS and GMO at all costs.

  12. I’ve been addicted to Lays Potato Chips since I was a child. My health issues are minimal but reading this, the issues I do have could be caused by these products. I stopped buying Nestle’s products so I guess I can stop consuming Frito Lay also. Thanks for the heads up.

  13. I worked at frito lay manufacturing, I know how little they care. I have seen plenty.

  14. I got Colon Cancer at 38 years old. It’s happening to a lot of young people more than ever. Even 19 year olds have gotten it. They know what they are doing. They just don’t care.

  15. Gary Balkam

I’ve been eating potato chips and drinking pepsi all my life, since I was old enough to suck on a straw. And I am not dead or poisoned yet! I mean seriously.. look at Warfarin for example.. Deadly Rat Poison or Life Saving Heart Medication? I mean seriously, saying corn isn’t food because it falls under Environmental Protection is ridiculous. The REASON the EPA is involved, is to ensure that other farm land does not become contaminated. For example, in Canada, all dairy cows are 100% gm free. If a cow gets sick, they are separated from the herd, treated, then quarantined from the herd until all traces of anti-biotics are gone. GM grains are not used, so if a GM product drifted from a potato farm, the EPA would deal with it. But seriously… how many people have you EVER heard of dying from drinking pepsi or eating potato chips. You SHOULD be more worried about Diacetyl in popcorn. But.. even that is in such a tiny amount that only 9 cases of popcorn workers lung disorder exist worldwide. 8 of those are popcorn factory workers, and the 9th is a questionable… claiming to have eaten 2 bags of popcorn for 20 years. Who eats 2 bags of chips every day for 20 years? Maybe 2 bags a week.. but not EVERY week..

    1. Hi Gary, thank you for sharing your thoughts. You’re right, that nobody dies from eating this or that food. But, look around you, how many people have you come across in your lifetime that have cancer? What about obesity, high/low blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, stroke, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, auto-immune diseases, liver or kidney diseases, the list goes on … I bet at least 9 out of 10 have one or more of these degenerative diseases. And they come about from accumulation of eating toxic foods like these. Every little adds up, it’s just a matter of time, even for you …

    2. Gary, tell that to my son who wears ostomy bag after his penis was removed from odd growth spurts and lesions. Never to enjoy normal relations with a female when he’s an adult. The bullying from those in the locker room. He explains it was Pepsi and Sun chips but they laugh and ridicule him. If we had only known. We feel like failures as parents but we know it was corporate greed. Stop it all now! We are killing ourselves for eating pleasure.

  16. An update on my son … Recent xrays and follow up show that he has cancerous lesions and ‘fingers’ (not sure on the technical terms) that are reaching into and infecting his bowels and rectum.
They’ve decided they will route all of his ‘output’ now into the ostomy bag and will start to treat him with radiation or chemo, or a combination of both. It appears he’ll also lose usage for life of his bottom (I’m trying to be not too gross, here but I’m shaking as I type this. I’m so mad and sad at the same time). The doctors say he’ll have to wear the bag forever, but I’ve also read in my own research, that scientists are making strides in creating artificial colons and rectums so this may be something for him in the future.
I think we can appreciate the good feeling of sitting upon the toilet and grabbing a book or paper to read. I couldn’t help that. We’ve joked about it, so it’s okay. If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry … (xx content removed to protect reader xx) … all in the name of CORPORATE GREED!! Get this … he still wants to eat Sun Chips and drink Pepsi!! That’s how much of a powerful hold they have on the body. Blessings to all who have continued to read my story, and to your effort Sara, to get the word out. Pepsi and Sun Chips KILL and MAIM! They are food terrorists!
