8 Metabolism Boosting Tips That Also Improve Digestion

Last updated on

It is perfectly natural for your metabolism to slow down on occasions. If you have had trouble losing weight or have noticed recent weight gain, then your metabolism may be slowing down.

Your metabolism is a part of your digestion process, so improving your digestion can also help boost your metabolism. The following tips should help with both aspects. These tips include simple dietary and lifestyle changes that could help you lose some weight.

If you are interested in boosting your metabolism or improving your digestion, then use the following 8 health tips.

1. Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting is simply cycles between periods when you eat and periods when you fast. With this method, you may fast for a day (or juice fast), eat moderately and healthily for a day, and then fast (or juice fast) again.

There are many health benefits for doing intermittent fasting, including improving your digestion for better health, allowing your body to rest and for it to do the necessary cellular repair work.

2. Take The Time To Chew

When you eat food, you should take the time to chew thoroughly. Chew each bite 25-50 times before you swallow (depending on what you eat). When you eat fast, you are not giving your stomach time to catch up and realize that you have already eaten enough food. It can take up to 15 minutes before your stomach and brain make the connection.

3. Eat Healthy Carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates, such as those found in white bread, pasta, and most wheat products, are difficult for your body to digest, resulting in the accumulation of more fat.

Replace your refined carbs with unrefined carbs, such as from fruits, grain bread, beans, and lentils.

4. Use More Spices

Spices, such as capsaicin, can help increase body heat, which will allow you to burn more calories. This will give your metabolism a short boost. Capsaicin can be found in chili peppers and black peppers.

5. Drink Green Tea

Drinking green tea or matcha green tea can help ease digestive distress, improve your digestive system, and increase your metabolism.

Drink one or two cups every morning to get your system moving.

6. Eat The Right Food

Your diet is a major part of your health. Along with some of the other suggestions, such as using more spices or drinking green tea, you should include certain foods in your diet.

Choose items that can either boost your metabolism or improve your digestive system. This includes foods that are high in fiber, such as nuts, apples, and broccoli. Other foods that you may want to consider eating include:

  • Celery
  • Garlic
  • Lemons
  • Onions
  • Lettuce
  • Cabbage
  • Papaya
  • Avocado
  • Carrots
  • Grapefruit

As you can see, you are going to need to include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet to improve your metabolism and digestion. This is just a small list, as there are dozens of other fruits and vegetables to choose from.

7. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated not only help increase your metabolism and assist the digestive process, it will also help you stay full for longer. The typical recommendation is to have eight glasses of water each day. This is on top of any other drinks that you consume, including soda pop, coffee, and other beverages.

8. Get Regular Exercise

Regular exercise is one of the best ways to begin boosting your metabolism. You do not need to push yourself too hard, but getting at least twenty minutes of cardio exercise four or five times per week is the general recommendation. If you feel up for a tougher workout, you could begin including strength training.

If you have trouble finding the time to work out, you could perform small cardio exercises throughout the day. Run in place for a couple of minutes, perform jumping jacks, or practice some calisthenics.

Weight loss or gain may be directly tied to your metabolism. When your body is able to efficiently convert carbohydrates and sugar into energy, you may find it easier to drop a few pounds and keep the weight off. Use these tips to start increasing your metabolic rate and improve your digestion.
