Stop Gum Disease In Its Early Stages With These 5 Simple Home Remedies
Last updated on
Most people will experience some level of gum disease during their lifetime. It is a precursor to other dental issues, including cavities. The first indication of gum disease is the receding of your gums.
As your gums recede, there is room between your gums and your teeth for bacteria to grow. The bacteria can damage tissue, increase the progression of your gum disease, and lead to other problems with your teeth.
There are a lot of different reasons for developing gum disease. Poor dental hygiene, heredity factors, hormone imbalances, and periodontal disease are all common reasons for the receding of the gum line and the progression of gum disease; though, according to some recent research, consuming too much acid could cause your gums to bleed.
If you have noticed that your gums bleed frequently, such as when brushing your teeth, you should take a moment to consider the foods that you are eating. Diets that contain highly acidic foods could increase the progression of gum disease. Diets that are over alkaline may also cause gum bleeding. There has to be a good balance.
Try to cut back on processed foods that contain a lot of acid. While limiting your intake of acidic foods, you should also try to include foods that will promote healthier gums. The following items can help heal your gums and prevent gum disease before it becomes a major problem.
Stop Gum Disease With These Simple Remedies
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that could help heal your gums. If you have fresh Aloe Vera plants, you can crush the leaves to extract Aloe Vera gel. Brush your teeth, using a small amount of raw Aloe Vera gel. Another option is to combine some Aloe Vera gel with a small amount of water to make a mouthwash.
2. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains anti-bacterial properties, along with antimicrobial compounds. The easiest way to use coconut oil for the health of your gums is to combine a small amount of coconut oil with water and use it as a mouth rinse.
Using coconut oil for oil-pulling for 15 minutes every day will provide you with better results against gum diseases and also prevent tooth decay.
3. Green Tea
Green tea contains an abundance of antioxidants. Drinking green tea on a regular basis could reduce inflammation of the gums and help kill any bacteria that may be present. All it takes, to help reduce inflammation, is to drink one cup of green tea each morning.
4. Sesame Oil
Sesame oil is another substance that can be used as a mouthwash, to help remove bacteria and other toxins from your mouth. This could also help remove any buildup of plaque. Place a quarter cup of sesame oil in your mouth and swish it around for several minutes. Afterwards, spit the sesame oil out into the sink—do not swallow.
5. Eucalyptus Oil
The eucalyptus plant is full of healing power. Using eucalyptus oil, you can easily kill germs and help prevent tooth decay, as well as gum disease. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling. Dilute a small amount of eucalyptus oil with water and massage the mixture directly on your gums.
After applying the eucalyptus oil, you should rinse your mouth with water. This will help promote new tissue growth and kill bacteria.
These are just a few examples of natural items that you can use to prevent gum disease and keep your gums from bleeding. If your gums regularly bleed, then try to cut back on your consumption of acidic foods especially from processed foods.
If these solutions do not help you deal with your bleeding gums, then you may want to schedule a dental appointment.
