What Fluoride Is and What It Does

Fluoride is a type of chemical that is believed to lower the risk of cavities and improve dental health. However, it is linked to a host of health problems.

Fluoride, like many other neurotoxins, accumulates within the body. This means that the body does not flush it out very quickly. Rather, it builds up in the body and is stored in your body tissues. Therefore, the more treated water you drink, the more fluoride you may have poisoning your body.

This chemical is linked to a weaker immune system, elevated risk levels for 23 types of cancer, and lower IQ numbers. It is added to kill bacteria but it is so toxic that when consumed, it also kills your beneficial bacteria and throw your gut flora off-balance.

As your overall health and immune system depends on your gut health, a compromised gut may cause many more complications. Fluoride also depletes your body of iodine, which puts stress on your body and especially on your thyroid. It brings about thyroidism issues with lowered levels of energy, reduced sex drive, and unexplained increase in weight.

Studies have found higher cancer rates in cities with fluoridated water than cities without. The higher cancer rates were more pronounced for those above 65 years in age.

Knowing what fluoride does, you may wonder why it is part of our water supply at all. The United States made a rash decision to recommend fluoride supplementation on the basis of research that linked fluoride to lower amounts of cavities. However, since then, research has indicated that vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids are better at preventing cavities.

In fact, most developed nations do not add fluoride to the water supply. If you live in the United States though, you definitely want to find out from your local municipality if your water is treated with fluoride. If so, you need to detoxify and stop drinking that treated water.

Natural Ways To Detoxify Fluoride From Your Body

There are several ways that you can detox from fluoride and protect your body from the long-term health effects of this toxin. Try to work these treatments into your health routine. These are useful for detoxifying other heavy metals as well.

1.  Selenium

Supplementation with selenium and magnesium have been shown to have positive effects in reducing the toxicity of fluoride. Selenium and magnesium binds to fluoride and escort them out of the body. 2. Turmeric

Fluoride accumulation is at the highest concentration in the pineal gland. Toxicity in this gland affects the production of melatonin that maintains the body’s sleep-wake cycle, and the female reproductive hormones. A study has shown that the consumption of tamarind significantly increased the excretion of fluoride in urine, safely detoxifies fluoride and protects against skeletal fluorosis.

4.  Holy Basil Leaves (Tulsi)

Researchers conducted an experiment of soaking 75mg of Holy Basil leaves in 100ml of water that had over seven parts per million of fluoride, for eight hours. The fluoride was reduced to 1.1 parts per million, to an almost-safe level of WHO standard of 1 part per million. This shows that the Holy Basil might possibly be a much better and natural alternative to expensive water filters!

5.  Near Infrared Sauna

Sweating is one of the best ways you can detoxify your body of just about any toxin or unwanted chemical. If you have access to a near infrared sauna, you definitely want to make use of that. If you don’t, here’s how you can use near infrared light therapy, or build your own sauna. The near infrared energy penetrates your body more deeply and flushes out the fluoride and heavy metals more quickly than a dry sauna.

6.  Boron

Boron is a natural mineral that is found in many foods, such as nuts, dates, prunes, honey, avocado, bananas, broccoli. It strengthens bones, improves mental function, and aids muscle coordination. You can either take eat foods rich in boron, take a boron supplement or add 1/32 teaspoon of Borax to a liter of water, which you can drink throughout the day.

7.  Green Vegetable Juices

Chlorophyll in green vegetables is structurally similar to the human hemoglobin—the iron-containing element in blood. Drinking green juices increases red blood cells production and improves oxygenation, detoxification and blood circulation. 8.  Probiotics

Although listed at the end, probiotics are one of the most important parts of your detox routine. The constant presence of fluoride in your body disrupts your gut flora and destroys the beneficial bacteria, leaving your digestive system in a constant state of unrest. The best way to get healthy probiotics is by eating fermented foods.
