Read about hypothyroidism.

Symptoms:

Chronic fatigue, nervousness, irritability, intolerance to heat, profuse perspiration, insomnia, increased bowel movements, infrequent menstruation, decreased menstrual flow, feeling weak, hair and weight loss, hand tremors, rapid heartbeat, goiter, and bulging eyeballs in severe cases.

If you have many of the above symptoms, do a self test:

Keep a thermometer by your bed. When you awaken in the morning, place the thermometer under your arm for about 10 minutes (with the normal mercury thermometer). Or, get a digital thermometer that beeps when the temperature is ready for reading. Keep a log for five days. If your readings are consistently high at 98.3 degree F or higher, it may be an indication of hyperthyroidism. Some of these symptoms may be mistaken for menopausal symptoms. Consult your health care provider.
