In the past 50 years, many new diseases have surfaced and increased at an alarming rate. Many of these diseases were rare and almost unheard of in the times of our ancestors.
Diseases like Alzheimer’s, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, fibromyalgia, gout, migraine, osteoporosis, etc., are modern man’s diseases.
Modern medicine as we know it, does not teach man to live healthy and stay healthy. What modern medicine does is try to heal us or cure us only when diseases have invaded.
What does it mean when we say “prevention is better than cure”? Is the government really helping us to “prevent” breast cancer when what they are asking is that we examine our breasts frequently so that we “detect” the disease early enough so that it can be treated?
“Detecting” and “preventing” are two different things. Why aren’t we taught to prevent cancer altogether? Why aren’t we taught the cause of cancer and how our lifestyle CAN really prevent cancer?
I hope to address these issues as accurately as I can on this site. I don’t claim to be an expert but I know that continuous researches and studies have been conducted in recent years. Nor will I attempt to be the know-all, but these information that I have gathered is sufficient to make me realize the full potential of healthy-living.
More and more evidence have proven that nutritional therapy is the way to go.
A doctor in Dublin, Ireland said,
“If the doctors of today don’t become nutritionists,
the nutritionists will become the doctors of tomorrow”.
What Is Health?
Our human body is genetically designed to live over a hundred years. In ancient times, man lived to a few hundred years old. They were as close to nature as nature themselves.
In these times, if disease-free, our body has the potential to live to at least 120 to 140 years old.
There are a few cultures in the world that still exist, that live in the mountains away from civilization, that routinely live up to over 100 years old.
In 1973, the January issue of the National Geographic did a special article on these groups of people. One man was reported to be 167 years of age, the oldest living person at that time! Some of these people, were still fathering children even at age 100 years old, and were still active and healthy! What are we missing here?
An average person today is considered “blessed” if he lived to seventy five years old. But is he really “living”? What’s the quality of his life? Spending the last twenty years of his life in ill health?
Seriously, what is health? To me, health is not just an absence of diseases, but it should also mean that it is full of vitality.
I have not yet met anyone who doesn’t want to have excellent health. Yet, how many of us would actually take the trouble to know and to understand how to achieve excellent health?
Granted, we would not change our destructive lifestyle overnight. But I can assure you, it is definitely achievable if you are willing. Bookmark this site now, walk with me for the next few days towards a new healthier lifestyle.
The Modern Day Diet
We have been led to believe that we must eat a “well-balanced” diet to stay healthy. While an average person eats a well-balanced diet, let us stop and think, just how effective is this so-called “well-balanced” diet?
All of us know of at least one person whom we think was “healthy”, or “ate healthy” but yet he/she contracted a certain terminal disease. How can this be? Do we have to live in fear that we might be next?
In my pursuit in studying about health, again and again, I’ve come across similar distressing reports—that today’s many diseases are caused by the foods that we put into our mouths, our very polluted environment, our unhealthy lifestyles, and the lack of nutrient intakes.
To reverse and to prevent the diseases then, we need to counter what we know to be harmful.
- We need to learn what are the foods that we put into our mouths that are harmful, and gradually eliminate them from our diet. Read more >>
- We can’t do very much about cleaning up our polluted environment, but we can certainly adjust our lifestyles and eat the right foods to protect us from the unhealthy environment as much as possible. Read more >>
- We need to assess our own lifestyles and be brutally honest with ourselves. Do we choose health, or do we want to continue with our destructive lifestyles?
- And finally, what we really need to do is probably get back to the basics.
