Make Your Water Interesting With Colorful Flavored Ice Cubes

Last updated on

It is always important to stay hydrated, but it is even more important during the hot summer months. During these months, you are likely to sweat more and get dehydrated more quickly. Getting enough water is the only way to fight this. Soda, coffee, and other drinks just do not have the same health benefits as water.

Water may be far from being the most flavorful beverage out there. But hey, let’s make it more interesting! Use flavored ice cubes to keep your drink cold, bump up the flavor and get more nutrients from your daily water intake, and keep it ice cold on hot summer days.

Getting More Water in Your Diet

As you try different ice cube recipes and find the ones that suit your tastes, you may find it much easier to increase your water intake. Finding out how much water you should be getting every day is the next step.

First, look at your weight in pounds. Divide it in half. That is the amount of ounces that you should be drinking every day. You may want to prep all of your water bottles in the morning or the night before. When your water bottles are empty, you know that you’ve reached your daily goal. Then, drink more.

Fun Ice Cube Recipes

There are so many different ways that you can flavor your ice cubes that you will likely never run out of combinations. Get started with these and then get creative. You can use just about any produce you have in your home to make your water taste a little bit better.

  • Fruit infusion:  If you have ice cube trays with extra-large ice cube molds, you can infuse your water with just about any fruit. Chop up some berries, apples, kiwi, or mango and drop the small pieces into water-filled ice cube molds. As the ice melts, your water will be flavored with whatever fruit you choose.
  • Blueberry and lemon juice:  Blueberries and lemons can give your water a little bit of an antioxidant kick. Add a little bit of water to your ice cube trays and to squeeze in some fresh lemon juice in. Purée some fresh blueberries and add the juice.

  • Lemon and ginger:  This fresh tasting combination can wake you up and put some pep in your step. Just like with the last recipe, add fresh lemon juice to your ice cube molds. Finely chop ginger into small pieces and sprinkle it in.
  • Mint:  Mint-flavored water doesn’t just taste great, it can also make your mouth feel and smell clean. Add whole mint leaves to your ice cubes or add finely chopped mint leaves.

Fruit, herbs, and even some vegetables can go into your ice cubes. Pick your favorite combination above and see how much more water you drink.
